ATLANT 3D and Entalpic Partner to Build AI-Driven Digital Twins for ALD Processes

COPENHAGEN & PARIS — ATLANT 3D and Entalpic have announced a collaboration to develop AI models capable of predicting and optimizing Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) processes using experimental data generated on ATLANT 3D’s Direct Atomic Layer Processing (DALP®) platform.

Atomic Layer Deposition is a critical technology for advanced materials engineering, enabling atomic-scale control of thin films used in semiconductors, electronics, energy devices, and next-generation coatings.

ATLANT 3D brings a unique capability for atomic-scale fabrication through its DALP® technology and NANOFABRICATOR® platform, enabling highly controlled and flexible deposition experiments. These systems allow researchers to precisely manufacture and test new thin-film materials directly at the atomic scale. At the same time, identifying which materials should be fabricated — and under which process conditions — remains a major challenge.

Entalpic develops an AI-native materials discovery platform that combines machine learning, atomistic simulations, active learning, and experimental data to explore vast chemical spaces and propose promising material candidates. While AI can now generate high-performance materials designs, determining how to reliably fabricate them in real ALD systems remains a critical bottleneck.

Together, the two companies will develop digital twins of ALD reactors, using structured experimental data to train predictive models tailored to real manufacturing conditions. This closed-loop workflow connects AI-driven materials discovery with experimental validation, allowing simulations and fabrication experiments to continuously inform and improve one another.

By combining Entalpic’s predictive modeling with ATLANT 3D’s atomically precise fabrication technology, the collaboration aims to accelerate the development of next-generation materials and thin-film technologies, reduce experimental overhead, and shorten the time required to translate promising candidates into manufacturable processes.

“We are moving toward a future where material processes can be designed, simulated, and optimized digitally before a single experiment is run. By combining our atomic-scale fabrication platform with Entalpic’s AI models, we are laying the foundation for fully digital, self-improving manufacturing workflows.” – Dr. Mira Baraket, Chief Technology Officer, ATLANT 3D

“AI can now automatically propose new high-performance materials, but the real challenge is determining how to fabricate them in practice. By combining Entalpic’s machine-learning models with ATLANT 3D’s atomic-scale fabrication technology, we can build digital twins of real ALD reactors and close the loop between simulation and manufacturing. This will dramatically shorten the development cycle for next-generation materials.” – Alexandre Duval – Co-founder & Chief Scientific Officer, Entalpic
